Home Science staff and students have visited Ooty and Coonoor. The following are the places visited by them:

  • Benchmark tea factory, Chocolate & Eucalyptus oil factory

  • 2014-2015- Field trip towards KVK, Kaluvacharla, Rajahmundry was organized for all the Home science students on 30th Oct’ 2014. The entire Home science faculty accompanied students. Plant nursery, rural crafts of KVK were visited. Food preservation and bakery items with LPG oven were demonstrated. Apart from this a few of the local visits were arranged to get direct and first hand learning experience.
  • 2015-2016-A field trip was organized on 27th November, 2015 for all the Home science students to KVK, Dr.YSR Horticulture University, Venkataramannagudem. During the trip students had an opportunity of witnessing the demonstration of bakery with millets and various food preserves.
  •  COTTAGE STAY: Cottage stay experience was given for the third B.Sc Home Science students. This is meant to help them to experience group living, practice values, set goals, decision making and management of resources for a period of 6-8 days in a group 6-8 students.
  • Kavidarpanam, Game cards on Grammar
  •  CAAD: Computer Aided Apparel Designing is an add-on course for III B.Sc Home Science students. It is introduced in V semester and continued during VI semester. CAAD inculcates and enhances the skill of Textile and Apparel Designing. Students learn various options like Array, Copy, Move, Mirror image, Hatch pattern etc which enable them to create and enhance the beauty of the design. If it is practiced well students get employment opportunities in Fashion Industry. This course is guided by Dr.K.Rani.
  •  Canteen experience: Canteen was organized by the III B.Sc Home Science students as a part of their learning experience under the paper titled Food Service Management under the guidance of Dr.M.Padmaja. Organization of canteen helps the students to Know about quantitative cookery, marketing for provisions, financial management, pricing a dish and selling products. All this enables them to gain experience in running a small food service institute.
  •  EARN WHILE YOU LEARN : An Exhibition was organized by II and III BSc. HSc. students on 16th and 17th July 2015. The exhibits include glass painting, mural work, varli painting, pot painting, kalamkari painting, coffee painting. The exhibition was open to all staff and students of St. Theresa’s Autonomous College For Women, Eluru. Many staff and students visited the exhibition and appreciated the students. Students were able to gain remuneration by supplying sprouts, sale of glass paint wall hangings, Jewellery and Greeting cards made out of Quilling Art, by doing facial make up for more than 100 students during college day celebration and also gained by putting Mehandi in a marriage function.
  •  EXHIBITION CUM SALE : Students of III Bsc. HSc. had organized an Exhibition Cum Sale on 21st September 2015 to 23rd September 2015. On the first day of exhibition, Dr. B. Prasad Rao garu, Home Secretary, Andhra Pradesh has visited and encouraged the students by purchasing different exhibits. The items displayed include Glass painting, mural work, varli painting, quilling, handmade earrings, coffee painting. The exhibits were kept for sale. The Staff and students of various departments encouraged and appreciated the efforts made by the students.
  • f SUBJECT AND GENERAL ELECTIVES: In this academic year during the BOS Meeting suggestions were made to incorporate Entrepreneurship Artistry / Disaster Management in the V semester and CAAD/Sociology in the VI semesters as subject and general electives respectively.
  •  SELF STUDY PAPER: Self study paper “Entrepreneurship Artistry” is designed to offer from the forth coming academic year
  • BREAST FEEDING WEEK-Awareness camp on the IMPORTANCE OF BREAST FEEDING in Government hospital maternity ward. Students enacted a role play on importance of breast feeding in the maternity ward and distributed breads and clothes to the lactating women.
  • B. Sc Home science students to orient Senior Intermediate students. Students were oriented about the Home science course pattern, co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the department. Students were also enlightened about the Job avenues of the Home science course. Creative crafts prepared by the students were displayed to arouse interest towards the course.

  • REMEDIAL TEACHING: Academically weak students were given an opportunity to attend remedial classes after the college time to improve their academic performance. Staff had given personal attention for the students in need of any help with regard to their studies. They are also encouraged for peer group learning .
  • COMPASSIONATE WORK: For the past three years department is supporting P. Sai Sunanda and P.V. Padmavathi by paying total tuition fees which helped them to complete B.Sc H.Sc successfully. I B.Sc H.Sc student T. Sukanya is also supported this year by paying half of the college fees and examination fees. This earns them livelihood and the members of the department are very happy to support our students. The amount that was paid as tuition fees is earned by organizing special subject elective classes on payment and that is utilized by the department towards compassionate work.
  • SAVINGS SCHEME: students were encouraged to maintain savings regularly in the Theresian Savings Bank so as to have better control on their expenditures and to develop the habit of pooling money for bigger expenditures like cottage stay, project work etc..
  • SPONSORSHIP Gold and silver medals are sponsored by the Home science staff for the Home science students
