The dept follows the university syllabus with regular revisions adding job oriented topics like Chromatographic techniques, Micelles, organometallics etc.,
Admissions are according to the university norms ie., the student should qualify AUCET/ ANUCET. The intake of students is 33. Nearly 60% of them are from rural background belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories.

Once in a month we visit the nearby slum areas and villages creating awareness about pollution, health disorders, prevention of using plastic etc., Faculty and students visited Schools & Colleges to increase the interest of school Children in Chemistry & increase public appreciation of Chemistry. There is a good response from the public. They are eager to learn more about healthy habits and safe environment.
II MSc Chemistry Students performed an awareness program on “Ozone layer preservation and moral responsibility” on 16th Sept 2015 on the occasion of 21ST International day for the preservation of the Ozone layer in the Auditorium of Ch S D St. Theresa’s college for women.
Knowledge exchange program is planned based on the theme for the year to highlight the role of chemistry in day today life and in solving global problems. The purpose of the program is to impart basic knowledge and recent developments in chemistry to all the non-chemistry students.
Chemistry is a big part of our everyday life. We find chemistry in the foods we eat, the air we breathe, the soap, our emotions and literally every object we can see or touch. Everything is made of chemicals. We are made of chemicals. Drugs are Chemicals. Many of the changes we observe around us are caused by chemical reactions. Examples include changing colors of leaves, cooking food and getting clean. Though chemistry is difficult to learn, but it is very important to learn it. The major advantage is in the medicinal field. Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. Kekule was the Father of Organic Chemistry. In honourof Kekule our club was named after him. The club was started in the year 2006.
