M.Sc CLINICAL NUTRITION Nutrition

DEPARTMENT INTRODUCTION

M.Sc Clinical Nutrition is started with 22 students during the academic year 2016-2017 on 1st July 2016 with an orientation programme. Holy Mass was conducted for all PG staff and students on 2nd July 2016.Classes commenced for the students from 3rd July 2016. Unique feature of this course is six months internship in reputed hospitals under the guidance of a Registered Dietician.

  • Dr.M.Padmaja, Ms. Ch. Sushma and Ms. A. Havilah attended National Seminar on ” Moving towards Choice Based Credit System in Higher Education – A Road Map”-18th-19th, August, 2016.
  • Dr.M.Padmaja attended National Workshop on “Technology In The Class Room” on September 3rd, 2016.
  • Dr.M.Padmaja, attended National seminar “Holistic Approach to Health and Wellness” on 23rd &24th September, 2016 organized by ASD Govt. Degree College for Women(Autonomous), Kakinada

  • Dr.M.Padmaja, Ms.Ch. Sushma and Ms. A. Havilah along with students attended International Seminar on “Sustainable Tourism: Trends, Challenges And Opportunities” on Feb 3rd and 4th, 2017.
  • Dr. I. Annapurna , Senior Faculty of PG Economics gave a lecture on Role of Research Methodology in Bio Sciences to the students on 14th July, 2016
  • Dr. G. Srinivas, Dept. of Community Medicine, ASRAM College delivered a guest lecture on Diabetes- Occurance and Complications on 21st July,2016
  • Ms.K. Kusumanjali , Faculty of Statistics gave a lecture on Bio Statistics to the students on 4th October, 2016.
  • One day Workshop was organized on ECG and ECHO by Dr. A. Venu Gopal Reddy of City Diabetes Centre, Eluru. Through this workshop students gained hands on experience in taking ECG and ECHO and its analysis.
  • Department has been obtaining consultancy services from Dr. A. Venu Gopal Reddy of City Diabetes Center, Eluru for practical training to the students at different periods of the academic year. Department has been extending consultancy services for the following organizations at different periods of the academic year.
  • ICDS: Dr.M.Padmaja extended guest lectures to the Anganwadi trainees on Stimulation for under 3’s.
  • ARTS CLUB: Dr.M.Padmaja gave guest lecture on “Adolescent Nutrition” in Arts club of St.Theresa’s College to create awareness about importance of Nutrition to students of Social Sciences.
  • B.B.R.T. Rajeswari of I M.Sc Clinical Nutrition won Silver Medal for B. Sc Home Science during 2012 – 2015
  • B.B.R.T. Rajeswari of I M.Sc Clinical Nutrition was College Union PG Joint Secretary

From 16-19th February, 2017 an Educational Tour towards Ooty and Coonoor was organized for I, II, III B.Sc H.Sc and PG students. Places visited are Bench Mark Tea Factory, Chocolate And Eucalyptus Oil Factory, Mayur Tea Gardens And Eucalyptus Oil Extraction Unit, ICAR Central Potato Research Centre, Botanical Gardens, Doddabetta- Highest Peak in Nilgiries and Dolphin’s Nose- Highest Peak in Coonoor.

  • 1. Earn While You Learn On College Day students were able to generate money by doing make-up for all the participants of college level culturals and by organizing canteen .
  • On 3rd August, 2016 Breast feeding week celebration was organized by students of M.Sc Clinical Nutrition and Home Science .K.Divya and G. Baby Syamala of III B.Sc gave a talk on “Importance on Breast Feeding” to all the students of the college.
  • On 5th August PG Clinical Nutrition students conducted Debate on “Advantages and disadvantages of Breast Feeding”.
  • Nutrition week celebrations were conducted by the Department from 1st to 7th September 2016
  • PG Clinical Nutrition and III year Home Science students supplied sprouted grains in the campus for 7 days as part of EARN WHILE YOU LEARN programme

International Conferance
