WOMEN CELL



UGC (University Grants Commission) sponsored, Centre For Women’s Studies (CWS) during the academic year 2009-2010. Commissionarate of Collegiate Education (CCE) made it mandatory to start Women Empowerment Cell(WEC) in all the Aided and Government colleges to empower students through activities organized by the CWS. An Orientation cum Inaugural Programme is organized to the entire student body of the college, in order to induct student volunteers to
Women Empowerment Cell (WEC). Services are also extended to empower the young women faculty and the under privileged sections of the society through the courses offered and activities conducted by Centre For Women's Studies. In order to conduct the activities in a systematic way two committees have been formulated to work in cohesion namely Advisory Committee & Action Committee.

ACTION COMMITTEE

Action Committee was formed to carry out the schedule of activities fruitfully throughout the academic year. The members of the committee for the academic year 2016-2017 are as follows.

The General Objectives of the centre are

  • To sensitize students on various aspects of empowerment and to enable them to take leadership roles in all sections
  • To help the youngsters - students, faculty and under privileged women of the society to realize their potential, to strengthen their participation in all the entrepreneurial activities and to help them to establish an entrepreneurial organisation


The Specific Objectives of the Women Empowerment Cell framed to focus upon the activities are

  • To give an exposure to the students about the status of women from prehistoric times till date through guest lectures
  • To help students to understand the different aspects of empowerment by having an interaction with the empowered women from the different sectors of society

  • To bring awareness about the different atrocities that the women are subjected to, in their day to day life through talks and by having an exposure to the publications
  • To help students to develop their personality and gain self confidence by attending Personality Development & Job Oriented courses

  • To provide an exposure to the students about the women role models - women achievers and service oriented women and honouring them on women's day
  • To give an exposure to the students through the field visits to develop confidence to take up entrepreneurial activities
  • To develop competitive spirit among students and to understand in depth about the women’s issues through role plays and by participating in various competitions conducted by CWS
  • To impart entrepreneurial skills in order to help them to help themselves for economic empowerment through guest demonstrations.
  • To empower the underprivileged women of the rural areas/urban slums by giving a series of exposures to the skill development activities through workshops to empower them in various respects

  • To undertake research project in collaboration with women welfare department
  • To conduct seminar/workshop/training programme for the students in order to empower them in all possible aspects

  • 1. Arranging Guest lectures on various women's issues
  • 2. Organizing Guest demonstrations to develop entrepreneurial skills
  • 3. Providing platform for students self expression through Dramatizations & Role plays on women’s issues-Atrocities and Achievements
  • 4. Offering of Personality Development/ Job Oriented Certificate Courses for the students and young faculty and conducting Research Project
  • 5. Women’s equity day celebrations
  • 6. Field Trips to show the entrepreneurial units
  • 7. Conducting Competitions to bring out the hidden talents
  • 8. Organizing Workshops for students and Under privileged women
  • 9. Identifying and Honouring Women role models on Women's Day Celebrations.
